Product Information
2-(4-Chlorobutyl)-1,3-dioxolane is a reactive analog of daunosamine. It is synthesised by functionalising the ring with chloro and bromo groups. This compound is anhydrous and has a high yield. 2-(4-Chlorobutyl)-1,3-dioxolane has been found to be effective in cancer therapy and as an antineoplastic agent. Cancer cells are more sensitive to this substance than healthy cells because it inhibits the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and protein. The five-membered ring in this molecule allows for binding to the active site of enzymes such as thymidylate synthase, which catalyzes the conversion of thymine into thymidine monophosphate (TMP). This compound also inhibits topoisomerase II and topoisomerase IV, which maintain DNA integrity.
