Product Information

Name:
(2R,3S)-2-Amino-3-phenylbutanoic acid hydrochloride
Description:

(2R,3S)-2-Amino-3-phenylbutanoic acid hydrochloride is an inhibitor of the enzyme arginine deiminase. It is a potent and selective inhibitor of thrombin with a K i value of 2.1 nM. This drug has been shown to inhibit the proteolytic activity of trypsin and also inhibits the production of nitric oxide by human polymorphonuclear leukocytes. The x-ray crystal structure has been determined for this compound, which provided insight into how it binds to the active site of thrombin. (2R,3S)-2-Amino-3-phenylbutanoic acid hydrochloride blocks the formation of fibrinogen from its precursor fibrinogen gamma chain, which prevents blood clotting.
