Product Information
5,6-dihydroxy-2-azabicyclo[2.2.1]heptan-3-one is a synthetic compound that is an adenosine agonist. It has been shown to bind to the adenosine receptor, leading to increased levels of intracellular cAMP and subsequent activation of protein kinase A. This leads to an increase in the activity of many different enzymes, including phosphodiesterases, which are involved in the breakdown of cyclic AMP. 5,6-dihydroxy-2-azabicyclo[2.2.1]heptan-3-one has been shown to be more potent than adenosine in activating this receptor and inducing these effects on protein kinase A activity. The compound also exhibits electron mediation and transannular electron transmission properties as well as being a good substrate for attack by epoxide hydrolases and boronic acid oxidases.
