Description

Triapine is a small-molecule drug that inhibits the activity of matrix metalloproteinase-9 and MCL-1. It has been shown to have reactive properties in vitro, which may be due to its ability to readily form thiosemicarbazones with various electron donors. Triapine has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of K562 cells and induce apoptosis by inhibiting reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and increasing ROS scavenging. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can be attributed to its inhibition of NF-κB signaling pathways. However, triapine also interacts with other drugs and enzymes, making it difficult for researchers to determine the exact role of this substance in the body.
