1-Phenylvinylboronic acid pinacol ester is a catalytic reagent that is used in organic chemistry. The stability of these materials has been attributed to substituent effects on the boronic acid group. 1-Phenylvinylboronic acid pinacol ester has also been shown to be an effective catalyst for cyclopentadiene. This compound can also be used uncatalyzed, although it yields hydrogen peroxide as a byproduct. The use of 1-phenylvinylboronic acid pinacol ester in experiments can be challenging due to its instability in organic solvents.
