Product Information
(R)-Piperidine-3-carboxylic acid amide is a potent antiviral agent that has been shown to inhibit the infectivity of HIV. This drug is a ligand for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and prevents the binding of the virus to host cells, thereby inhibiting viral replication. The compound also inhibits the enzymatic activity of piperidine and enhances its inhibitory effect on bacterial growth. (R)-Piperidine-3-carboxylic acid amide has a hydrophobic structure and binds to hydrophobic sites on proteins; it is an inhibitor of hydrolase family enzymes such as proteases. The molecular modeling studies indicate that this drug binds in the active site of proteases, which is composed of two subsites: an amino acid subsite and a hydrophobic subsite. (R)-Piperidine-3-carboxylic acid amide can be used as an antiviral agent
