N-Methyl-N-[4-(trimethylsilyl)phenyl]pivalamide is an enantioselective synthesis. This molecule has a diastereomeric ratio of 1:1, and both its enantiomers have been synthesized using the same synthetic method. The chiral moiety of this compound is a vinylsilane with a trimethylsilyl group on the axial position. The vinylsilane moiety is synthesized by reacting an iminium salt with vinyl trichlorosilane in the presence of a base. The reaction results in the formation of the desired product and its enantiomer.
