Product Information
4-(Trimethylsilyl)phenyl pivalate is a silylation agent that can be used for the preparation of esters, amides, and phosphates. It reacts with alcohols to form ethers and with acids to form esters. This compound can also condense with sulfur to form thioethers and with silicon to form siloxanes. 4-(Trimethylsilyl)phenyl pivalate is made from the condensation reaction of phenol, trimethylchlorosilane, and phosphorus pentachloride. The yield of this product under optimal conditions ranges from 65-75%.
