Product Information
- Benzoic acid, 2-ethoxy-5-iodo-, methyl ester
Methyl 2-ethoxy-5-iodobenzoate is an organic compound that binds to receptors and inhibits cloned rat brain GABA A receptors. Methyl 2-ethoxy-5-iodobenzoate has a high affinity for the benzodiazepine site of the GABA A receptor, but does not bind to other sites. It has been shown to be a potent and selective radioligand for measuring binding activity in the benzodiazepine site of the GABA A receptor. Methyl 2-ethoxy-5-iodobenzoate has been found to have a low affinity for human recombinant α 1 β 2 γ 2 δ subtypes at concentrations up to 100 μM. The racemic mixture (50% D, 50% L) had an affinity of 8 ± 4 nM for human recombinant α 1 β 2 γ 2 δ subtypes. Optimal binding affinities were found when methyl 2-ethoxy-
