Product Information

Name:
GSK2200150A
Description:

GSK2200150A is a chemically synthesized compound that has been shown to have potent antitubercular activity against drug-resistant strains. GSK2200150A was developed from the naturally occurring sugar trehalose, which has been shown to be an excellent substrate for microbial glycosylation. GSK2200150A inhibits the synthesis of mycolic acids in mycobacteria and prevents the formation of periplasmic granules, two virulence factors that are important in tuberculosis. GSK2200150A also inhibits protein synthesis by inhibiting the activity of ribosomes, which are responsible for protein production. The structure-activity relationship (SAR) of this compound indicates that it is a potent inhibitor of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and may be useful as a treatment for drug-resistant strains.
