The Trost ligand is a spirolactone analog that has been used in a variety of catalyzed reactions. The R,R-DACH-pyridyl Trost ligand was prepared by allylation and lactonization of the spirolactone ring with pyridine. This ligand has two functional groups, the allyl group and the pyridine ring. A catalytic reaction with this ligand may be useful for making other compounds containing these functional groups.
