Description:
4-(5-Formylthiophen-2-yl)phenol is an experimental drug that has been shown to inhibit the development of schistosomiasis in mice. It has been shown to inhibit the parasitological and histopathological manifestations of murine schistosomiasis. 4-(5-Formylthiophen-2-yl)phenol inhibits the electron transport chain by binding to cytochrome c oxidase, leading to a reduction in ATP production and an increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS). This leads to inhibition of cell division, which can be seen through microscopy studies.
