Product Information
2-Amino-5H-pyrrolo[3,2-d]pyrimidine is a potent inhibitor of kinases. 2-Amino-5H-pyrrolo[3,2-d]pyrimidine binds to the ATP binding site in the ATP binding pocket of kinase domains and prevents the formation of an enzyme/ATP complex, inhibiting phosphorylation reactions. This compound selectively inhibits protein tyrosine kinases and serine/threonine kinases but does not inhibit other types of kinases. It is currently used as an antiplatelet drug for the prevention of strokes and heart attacks. It is also being studied as an anticancer agent that inhibits cancer cell growth by preventing erythrocyte proliferation and inducing apoptosis in tumor cells.
