Bis[4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl]methanone is a ligand that binds to the human estrogen receptor alpha. It has been shown to have antiestrogenic activity in an assay using calf thymus DNA and bacterial DNA gyrase, topoisomerase IV, and RNA polymerase. Bis[4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl]methanone has also been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines in a mouse model of inflammation.
