2-Hydrazino-nicotinonitrile is a cytotoxic agent that belongs to the class of ethyl benzoylacetate. It has been shown to be effective against human leukemia cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. 2-Hydrazino-nicotinonitrile inhibits the growth of cancer cells by binding to DNA and RNA, which prevents them from synthesizing proteins. This drug has also been shown to have a cytotoxic effect on other types of cells, including normal epithelial cells. 2-Hydrazino-nicotinonitrile binds to primary amines such as formic acid, amines, and diethyloxalate and may have an effect on enzymes that use these substances as substrates or cofactors.
