Product Information

Name:
FB23-2
Description:

FB23-2 is a protein inhibitor that binds to the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2B (eIF2B) and inhibits protein synthesis. It has been shown to be effective against cancer cells in vitro and has also been shown to inhibit viral replication of human immunodeficiency virus type-1 (HIV-1) in cultured primary cells. FB23-2 has been shown to decrease the expression of death proteins, which may contribute to its anti-proliferative effect. This protein inhibitor also appears to have a protective effect on bladder cancer cells by inhibiting epidermal growth factor signaling pathways. FB23-2 also induces cell death in prostate cancer cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of prognosis factors such as epidermal growth factor and vascular endothelial growth factor.
