Product Information
Epetraborole is a non-nucleoside inhibitor of the enzyme synthetase that blocks the synthesis of dehydroabietic acid. It is used to treat infectious diseases, including tuberculosis and other mycobacterial infections. Epetraborole has been shown to be effective in both wild-type and drug-resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Epetraborole is also used for the treatment of chronic lung infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, or Moraxella catarrhalis. This drug has been shown to inhibit the growth of lung fibroblasts in vitro. Clinical trials have shown that epetraborole may be useful as a pharmaceutical dosage form for treating pulmonary infections caused by antibiotic resistant bacteria.
