5E-1-(3-Chloro-4-methylphenyl)-5-[(2E)-3-(furan-2-yl)prop-2-en-1-ylidene]-2-thioxodihydropyrimidine-4,6(1H,5H)-dione is a research tool that can be used to investigate the activation of receptors by ligands. This compound has been shown to activate ion channels and block potassium channels. It has also been shown to inhibit protein synthesis. 5E-1-(3-Chloro-4 methylphenyl)-5-[(2E)-3-(furan 2 yl)prop 2 en 1 ylidene]-2 thioxodihydropyrimidine 4 6 (1H,5H) - dione inhibits the binding of ATP to the receptor by competitively binding to the ATP site on the receptor. This prevents ATP from binding and activating the receptor.
