Product Information
2-(4-heptylphenethyl)-6-hydroxybenzoic acid (4HBP) is a cytosolic retinoid that is structurally similar to retinoic acid, which is important in the regulation of cellular responsiveness. 4HBP inhibits histone deacetylase and increases histone acetylation, which may be useful in cancer treatment. This compound also has anti-inflammatory properties and can reduce chronic inflammation by modifying fatty acids and decreasing the production of prostaglandins. 4HBP has been shown to increase the expression of resolvin D1, which is involved in cellular signaling pathways and reduces tumor growth. The mechanism of action for 4HBP also includes inhibition of phospholipase A2, which results in less inflammatory mediators being released into the environment.
