Ammonium adipate is an organic compound that is used as a corrosion inhibitor in metal-hydride batteries. It has been shown to be effective in wastewater treatment, where it reacts with malonic acid and aluminum to form ammonium salts. Ammonium adipate can also be used for the manufacture of capacitors. Ammonium adipate is a strong base and reacts with hydrochloric acid or sodium citrate to produce water vapor. This reaction occurs due to the hydroxyl group on its structure.
