2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-vinylphenol is a reagent that is used in the preparation of polymers. It can be synthesized by reacting an acetyl derivative with a hydroxy group and an alkali metal phenoxide. 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-vinylphenol has been shown to have stabilizing properties for polymers and also exhibits fluorescence. The polymerization of 2,6-di-tert-butyl4 vinylphenol with piperidine as a cocatalyst leads to morphologies that are mononuclear and profluorescent.
