2-Naphth-2-yl-2-oxoethyl thiocyanate is a compound that can be synthesized from benzene and 2-propanol with light. It has been used as an efficient photochemical initiator for the production of polymers, such as polyurethanes. This compound has also been used in the synthesis of novel photoinitiators with a high efficiency and low toxicity. The reaction products are thiocyanate, 2-propanol, and phenacyl.
