4-Methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline is a molecule that is an amine derivative of glycyrrhizin. It has been shown to be an effective vaccine adjuvant that enhances the immune response to antigens in animal models. 4-Methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline has also been found to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to target proteins that are involved in the synthesis of DNA and other macromolecules. This compound can also inhibit the production of hydrogen peroxide from allylamines. 4-Methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline is also active against bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics such as penicillin and erythromycin.
