The chemical structure of 2,4-dibromoiodobenzene contains two benzene rings linked by a single bond, which are attached to an iodine atom at each end. This compound has been shown to catalyze reactions involving intramolecular processes such as cyclization and polymerization. Crystal X-ray diffraction studies have shown that this compound has a five-membered ring when bound to rhodium metal ions.
