Product Information
Gadolinium(3+) hydrate trichloride is a bimodal particle with an average size of 20 and 100 nanometers. It has a phosphoryl group that is covalently bound to a water molecule, which provides its optical properties. Gadolinium(3+) hydrate trichloride can be used as an optical imaging agent in microscopy and osmotic pressure agent in cell biology. This compound is also toxic to cells, causing apoptotic cell death. Gadolinium(3+) hydrate trichloride kills cells by dehalogenating organic compounds, such as phosphatases and dehalogenases. The reaction products of these reactions are toxic to cells, causing their death.
