Description:
2-(4-Bromophenyl)benzo[b]thiophene (2PBBT) is an activating agent for cellulose acetate. It is used in the manufacture of nitrocellulose, which is used to make nitrocellulose lacquer, nitrophenols, and celluloid. 2PBBT reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce carboxylic acid, which can be reacted with peroxide to form a peroxyacid. This chemical has been shown to react with xylene and piperidine under certain conditions.
