Product Information
1-Naphthalenecarboxaldehyde, 2-(2-propen-1-yloxy) (1NA) is an anti-oxidant that inhibits the growth of many fungal strains. It has shown inhibitory activity against angiotensin I and II by blocking the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II. 1NA also inhibits the production of superoxide radicals and hydrogen peroxide in a variety of organisms. The antioxidant activity may be due to its ability to scavenge free radicals and chelate metal ions. The chemical structure of 1NA is similar to captopril, an ionic drug used in the treatment of high blood pressure. This similarity may explain the observed anti-hypertensive effect.
