Description

Trans-2,2-dimethyl-3-heptene is a desorption agent that is used to remove volatile organic compounds from the surface of solid samples. It can be used for the analysis of bacterial strains and monitoring of headspace gas profiles. Trans-2,2-dimethyl-3-heptene has been shown to be effective in removing volatile organic compounds from liquid phase samples. This compound has also been shown to have antimicrobial effects against Staphylococcus aureus and other bacteria. Trans-2,2-dimethyl-3-heptene has been found to bind differentially with bacterial cells, which can be used as a measure of bacterial growth.
