Description:
2-Methyl-4-undecanone is a molecule that has been shown to have a strong shift in the transfer of electrons when exposed to microbiota. This compound has also been shown to be an important metabolite in the pheromonal profile, as it is present in female mouse urine and is produced by male mice. The theory behind this pheromone is that it can act as an attractant or repellent to other mice. 2-Methyl-4-undecanone has also been shown to be a component of the headspace, which may contribute to the optical properties of the mixture. It has been proposed that 2-methyl-4-undecanone may serve as a surrogate for aliphatic chains and provide information about their absorption spectra.
