Diethylazamalonate is a cyanate ester that can be used in the chemical treatment of polyesters. It is also a potential antiviral agent. The antiviral activity of this compound is due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of pyrimidine nucleosides, which are building blocks for DNA and RNA synthesis. Diethylazamalonate has been shown to be an effective chemotherapeutic and thermoplastic catalyst.
