2,3-Dibromopropyl acrylate is a monomer that belongs to the group of benzene. It can be used in the production of polymers and elastomers, as well as in copolymerization with other monomers. 2,3-Dibromopropyl acrylate has a flammable nature and should not be used near an open flame. The homopolymers produced by this monomer are solid and insoluble in water. Formamide is added to the reaction mixture to increase the rate of polymerization and produce more homopolymers. This compound can interact with other substances such as dimethylformamide or methyl methacrylate, which may lead to different polymerization reactions. 2,3-Dibromopropyl acrylate can also react with azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) or styrene under specific conditions to form copolymers that are soluble in water.
