Product Information

Name:
Heptadecylcyclohexane
Synonyms:
  • Cyclohexane, heptadecyl-
  • Heptadecane, 1-cyclohexyl-
  • n-Heptadecylcyclohexane
Description:

Heptadecylcyclohexane is a fatty acid that is used in the production of microspheres. It can also be used as an anticancer drug and has been shown to have antiviral activity against hepatitis B. Heptadecylcyclohexane is produced by reacting hexane with sephadex g-100, followed by hydrochloric acid treatment. The fatty acid is obtained from the hydrolysis of heptadecylcyclohexane. Heptadecylcyclohexane has been shown to inhibit malonic acid production in cancer cells, which may be due to its ability to activate the enzyme malonyl coenzyme A carboxylase. This reaction prevents malonic acid from being converted into succinic acid and fumarate.
