Pentakis(dimethylamino)tantalum(V) is an amido-complex of tantalum with the formula Ta[NMe2]Cl. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with a = 7.9286(3), b = 9.7240(4), c = 13.5898(6) Å, β = 98.560(1)°, V = 807.5(2) Å3, and Z = 4. Pentakis (dimethylamino)tantalum (V) has been studied by x-ray crystallography, laser ablation mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to provide insight into its molecular structure and chemical reactivity.
