Product Information
Cis-3,7-Diazabicyclo[3.3.0]octane is an acidic organic compound that has been shown to inhibit HIV infection in vitro by binding to the chemokine receptor CCR5, which is required for HIV entry into host cells. It also inhibits the synthesis of nicotinic acetylcholine and can be used as an allosteric modulator. Cis-3,7-Diazabicyclo[3.3.0]octane was synthesized from diethyl succinate and piperazine with a chiral auxiliary that was removed in the final step of the process. The stereochemistry of cis-3,7-Diazabicyclo[3.3.0]octane was determined using sodium sulfide and hydrogen bond analysis on erythrocyte hemoglobin obtained from calf thymus tissue.
