Product Information
3-Bromo-2H-pyran-2-one is a synthetic compound that has the hydroxyl group in its structure. This chemical is a potent inhibitor of HIV infection. 3-Bromo-2H-pyran-2-one binds to the receptor on the surface of the virus and blocks it from entering human cells. It also inhibits viral production by preventing transcription and translation. The chemical was synthesized in a deuterium isotope cross coupling reaction between 2,4,5,6-tetrahydropyridine and acetone bromide. This process involves vitamin D3 as a starting material and gives rise to an aspartyl side chain in the final product.
