3,5-Dibromo-2H-pyran-2-one is a reactive chemical intermediate that is used in the Suzuki coupling reaction. It is commercially available and can be prepared by reacting 2,3,5-trichlorobenzaldehyde with sodium hydroxide in ethanol. 3,5-Dibromo-2H-pyran-2-one reacts with primary alcohols to produce aldehydes and ketones. This chemical intermediate has been shown to react with amines to produce ureas. 3,5-Dibromo-2H-pyran-2-one also reacts with vinyl ethers to form tetrahydropyrans.
