(+)-ZK 216348 is a potent, selective agonist of the nuclear hormone receptor TRβ. (+)-ZK 216348 has been shown to have transrepression activity in osteoblasts and to inhibit bone resorption by interfering with the activation of osteoclasts. (+)-ZK 216348 also inhibits inflammation and has shown anti-inflammatory activity in animal models. In addition, (+)-ZK 216348 has been found to be an effective treatment for osteoporosis without having any side-effects observed in clinical trials.
