Benzo[d][1,3]dioxole-4-carboxamide is a pentafluorophenyl derivative that has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to their ribosomal RNA. It is used as an antimicrobial agent in veterinary medicine to treat infections caused by bacteria resistant to other antibiotics. Benzo[d][1,3]dioxole-4-carboxamide binds to the ribosomal RNA and inhibits protein synthesis. It has also been found to be excreted in urine and has been shown to bind siderophores and inhibit iron uptake in E. coli cells.
