Product Information
4-Chloro-N-cyclohexylbutanamide is an inhibitor of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with a specific activity against nuclear DNA. It is used in diagnostic and research applications, as well as in combination therapy for the treatment of cancer. 4-Chloro-N-cyclohexylbutanamide binds to the DNA template strand and blocks synthesis of DNA by inhibiting the binding of RNA primer molecules to the newly formed DNA strand. This prevents the production of new strands, blocking replication and transcription. The chemical structure of 4-chloro-N-cyclohexylbutanamide resembles that of adenosine and guanosine nucleotides, which are essential building blocks for DNA. In addition, it has been shown that 4-chloro-N-cyclohexylbutanamide can induce cell death in human cells through a number of mechanisms, including inhibition of protein synthesis and induction of apoptosis.
