Description:

2-bromo-1H-indole-3-carbaldehyde is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of indoles. It is used as a precursor for other organic compounds, such as pharmaceuticals and dyes. 2-Bromo-1H-indole-3-carbaldehyde can be synthesized by the palladium catalyzed annulation of 3,4,5,6-tetrahydrobenzo[b]thiophene with aniline in the presence of copper(I) iodide. This reaction yields a mixture of products that may be separated by column chromatography or crystallization. The terminal alkyl group on this product can be replaced with an n substituent using reductive amination.
