Product Information

Name:
Methyl 1-methyl-2-oxoindoline-5-carboxylate
Description:

Methyl 1-methyl-2-oxoindoline-5-carboxylate (MMIC) is a molecule that inhibits the activity of certain enzymes. It has been shown to have cardiac effects and has also been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation. MMIC has been found in plant extracts, and it may play a role in the regulation of cell growth. MMIC can be synthesized from methyl myristate, anhydrous sodium, and an acid catalyst. It is an organic compound with the IUPAC name 2-(4-methoxycarbonylphenyl)propanoic acid. MMIC is a white solid that dissolves readily in water or alcohol. The disulfide bond in this molecule makes it susceptible to oxidation by air and light, which may explain its acute toxicities.
