N-Methyl-5-phenyl-3-isoxazolecarboxamide is a Grignard reagent that is used to synthesize ketones. N-Methyl-5-phenyl-3-isoxazolecarboxamide has a nucleophilic, amide, and carboxy moiety. The systematic name of this chemical is 5-(methylsulfonyl)benzo[d]isoxazole and it can be produced by the reaction of formyl chloride with methylamine in the presence of an alkoxide. This reagent also reacts with cyclopentadiene in the presence of a diisobutylaluminium halide to produce 3-methylcyclohexenone.
