Description

RO 25-6981 Maleate is a selective sigma receptor agonist that has been shown to have antidepressant, neuroprotective, and anti-pain effects. RO 25-6981 Maleate inhibits glutamate release in the hippocampus, which is related to the neuroprotective effect of this drug. It also affects locomotor activity, response element-binding protein expression in the caudate putamen, and rotarod performance in mice. RO 25-6981 Maleate also has an affinity for dopamine receptors and may be used as a potential treatment for Parkinson's disease.
