Product Information
The compound 5-(Benzenesulfonyl)-2-nitrophenyl] 4-chlorobenzoate is a benzene sulfonamide that inhibits the enzyme fatty acid synthase. Fatty acid synthase is an enzyme that catalyzes the production of fatty acids in the liver, which can lead to cancer. This drug has been shown to inhibit the growth and proliferation of cervical cancer cells and is also effective against cryptococcus neoformans, an opportunistic fungus that causes infections in immunocompromised patients. In vitro assays have been used to show that this compound inhibits the growth of yeast cells by inhibiting enzymes involved in glycolysis, including glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, hexokinase, and phosphofructokinase.
