1,3,3,5,5-Pentamethylcyclohexan-1-amine is a pharmacological agent that has been shown to be effective in treating inflammatory diseases. It binds to the glutamate receptor and inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines. 1,3,3,5,5-Pentamethylcyclohexan-1-amine is a competitive inhibitor of the enzyme choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) and it also has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on locomotor activity in mice. In clinical trials for the treatment of inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis, this drug was found to be therapeutically beneficial. Studies have also found that 1,3,3,5,5-Pentamethylcyclohexan-1-amine can be used as an adjuvant therapy for proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR), diabetic neuropathy and metabolic disorders such as obesity
