3-Ethyl-1-vinylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide is a copolymerization initiator. It has low molecular weight and can be used for the copolymerization of ethylene and polystyrene in ionic liquids. 3-Ethyl-1-vinylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide can also be used as an initiator to polymerize peroxide, which allows it to act as a membrane or catalyst for introducing monomer. It is kinetic and polymerized.
