3-Iodo-1H-indazole-6-carbaldehyde (3IAA) is a novel indazole inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in vivo. 3IAA binds to the tumor and inhibits cancer cell proliferation by blocking the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and protein. The antitumor activity of 3IAA has been demonstrated in various animal models of cancer. 3IAA also inhibits angiogenesis, which is necessary for the development of a tumor's blood supply. This agent has been found to be bioavailable orally and shows anticancer efficacy in mice. Oral exposure to 3IAA induced a significant decrease in tumor volume and weight in mice bearing xenografts.
