Description:

(±)-Propranolol-D7 (ring-D7) solution is a pharmaceutical drug that is used for the treatment of hypertension and anxiety. It is a prodrug that is metabolized to the active form, (+)-propranolol. The (-)-enantiomer of propranolol has been shown to be more potent than the (+)-enantiomer in inhibiting sulfamethoxazole resistance in Staphylococcus aureus. (-)-Propranolol-D7 (ring-D7) solution has also been shown to inhibit acetaminophen metabolism to its toxic metabolites, thereby decreasing the toxicity of acetaminophen. This drug also binds to thyroxine sulfate, which can be used as an analyte for wastewater treatment.
