Product Information
D-Cystine dimethyl ester (DCDME) is a cross-linking agent that acts by reacting with the two cysteine residues on two adjacent protein molecules. This reaction forms a disulfide bond, which is a covalent bond between sulfur atoms and it stabilizes the protein molecule. DCDME has been shown to increase viscosity in cell culture media and to be an additive in polyvinyl chloride. It is also used in surface coatings for paper, textiles, plastics, wood, and metal. DCDME has reactive groups that are arene (aromatic) or hydrogenated.
