It has been shown to be an inhibitor for Kv1.4 and Kv4.2 channels and may have potential therapeutic applications for diseases such as epilepsy. 4H,5H,6H,7H-Thieno[3,2-c]pyridine-5-sulfonamide is also a good research tool for studying protein interactions and peptide binding properties by measuring its ability to inhibit the activity of the protein of interest. This compound was used to identify a new binding site on the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE).
